Description:

This course is designed so that students have the opportunity to explore various areas of science and mathematics.  Ultimately the student will be able to summarize the role and impact made by different areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics and be able to demonstrate the skills, processes, instrumentation and methodologies utilized in scientific research.

The final outcome of the course will be the student’s formal proposal for an original research project in one area of science, technology, engineering, or mathematics.

Scientific notebook
Calculator
Pen/pencil

Evaluation:

Students will conduct teacher led research projects and learn a variety of presentation methods for these projects. Final presentations will be graded as projects and scientific notebook will be assessed for protocol use.

Scientific notebook/teacher  project 100 points each quarter
Presentations of project 50 points each quarter
Research proposals preparation 10 points each/ 20 points total

Final Exam:

Students will develop a portfolio for advisor/mentor. To be included in the portfolio will be a resume, 10 graded papers from SRT III, poster, abstract, mentor information, and an introductory letter to advisor. These will be organized and submitted during the exam.
